The Residence
Privacy and luxury, in a small village full of life.
Petras Home is for all seasons. In the spring, summer and fall, it opens to the outdoors, featuring three sea-facing terraces and a balcony facing the port.
In winter, there is nothing quite as cozy as sitting by the wood burning fireplace in the living room while a storm blows across the sea.
The downstairs terrace offers total privacy and a well-equipped outdoor kitchenette. It is steps from the swimming pad, lounge chairs and outdoor shower.
The balcony offers afternoon shade as you watch fishermen finishing the day and Kodylenia Restaurant preparing for evening service. It is a perch envied by all – and photographed by many.
In the evening, there is no better place on the island than the upper terraces with clear, unobstructed views of the sunset. The main entry terrace is a perfect perch for lunch or a drink after dinner.
The dining terrace features a 3.5 meter table that comfortably sits 10 to 12 guests. With awnings and privacy curtains, the terrace is the perfect setting for an evening meal as the sun sets.
The grand living room opens up directly onto the sea. The original woodburning fireplace is the typical style for the island and features Malta stone. The handmade sofa pulls out to comfortably sleep two guests. All built-in cabinets and tables are handbuilt by the local carpenter. The magnificent centerpiece is the deep blue wool rug—hand woven and dyed to the owners’ specifications.
Kitchen has been reconstructed with a traditional Dokos stone floor, hand-chiseled and fitted by local stone masons, marble countertops sourced at a Peloponnese quarry, and antique Greek tiles in the backsplash. The wooden tops are recreated from the original balcony on the home. The kitchen is well equipped for chef-prepared meals.
Master Bedroom is a special getaway that opens up from its handcrafted entryway to a high ceilinged and cozy bedroom that was originally the cistern for the house. The room features a 160cm bed with premium mattress and a handmade wardrobe, constructed onsite out of Chestnut wood.
Master bath features a 500-year old farmhouse sink. The two-person soaking tub was hand built by the owner. The portal window, which was the original cistern opening, offers light and air into the bathroom. A bidet and heated towel rack add an extra layer of luxury.
Guest Room is a special seaview room for one or two guests. Visitors have a direct and immediate view of the sea. The handmade bed pulls out for a full 160cm bed for a couple, or folds in for one guest. It includes four drawers and a cabinet, making storage of luggage and clothes easy.
Family room is a cool retreat for afternoon siesta or an evening film or card game. It comfortably sits eight to ten guests. Meanwhile, it also sleeps three comfortably on the couches/beds custom made by local carpenters. Privacy is provided with curtains that cut off access from the other bedroom and upstairs.
Main Bathroom is a tribute to the island’s Turkish past, featuring a unique antique sink, a wood inlay antique mirror from Istanbul, Teak arabesque cabinetry made locally, a handmade walnut cabinet from Turkey, and Syrian tile. The steam shower includes marble benches, Turkish tile and space for three guests. The bathroom also includes a bidet and heated towel rack.
